Brutti Compadres

On Friday, myself and my friend Sophie went for some lunch at Brutti Compadres on Virginia Court, the nicest little street to eat al fresco however it was absolutely frozen cold. Inside was just as pleasant, and the food was even better. We ordered from the “small plates” menu, and if you’re into that then take a look at Sophie’s blog too, she eats some weird and wonderful things – smallplatesbysophie.blogspot.co.uk.

Plate 1: A mushroom piccolo bread, the “Fun Guy”, which was basically a very thin (maybe tortilla?) small pizza. I could have easily had this as my only meal and ate three more it was delicious, but that would indeed spoil the fun of small plates.

Plate 2: Angry Prawns, which were served in a chilli oil with chopped red chillies - as opposed to the Peaceful Prawns which were served in garlic. I’m not usually a lover of spice or chillies at all however these could definitely have been spicier, but still very tasty.

Plate 3: Chicken with garlic and preserved lemons. I don’t typically like lemon, and I don’t know why I keep ordering things I don’t typically like, but this was absolutely amazing and so refreshing. Better than Nando’s lemon and herb for sure …Even though I get medium sauce at Nando’s so this may not be the boldest statement but just believe me this dish was good.

Sophie also ordered haggis balls which were lovely and chilli halloumi. Creeping in the back of the pictures is also her sardine bruschetta and I won’t say what I think of that because she enjoyed it which is all that matters...

The menu here has so much to choose from so small plates is a great idea but I’m already dying to go back to try some of the other things I spotted on the menu.
