Temaki

Image
On Monday night, I visited Temaki for the first time. Located on Hope Street, the small Japanese restaurant is inspired by the street food of New York and has even brought the Sushi Burrito to Glasgow. I would have tried the Sushi burrito for blog’s sake, but I hate the taste of fish and seaweed and any sushi in general. I’ve tried to enjoy it many times seeing as it looks so pretty however, no, I hate it. I absolutely love all other non-fishy, non-seaweedy Japanese food, so was excited to try Temaki and see how it compares to my all-time fav place, Ichiban. We ordered some mixed tempura as a side – sweet potato and king prawn. I’m already being a hypocrite here because I do actually love prawns, my 1 of maybe 3 small fish exceptions. I will say already that this was my favourite part of the full meal. Amazing. Now for the main meals, starting with a beef bento box. I love bento boxes because they let you try a good variety of stuff. Along with the beef the box cont...

Slouch

Image
Slouch is another one of the good few places to eat along Bath Street. Slouch is a bar and venue for bands and djs on most nights, however also serves amazing food from the kitchen. Instead of ordering the usual ~ a main dish plus way too many sides ~ combo, we decided to order 3 mains to share.                                  For main number 1 we ordered the "Fleetwood Mac", which I have tried and loved before. Mac and cheese with chorizo and Cajun chicken served with garlic toast. I'm not usually the biggest fan of chorizo but this dish is amazing. Me and my friends from work have been here a couple of times on our lunch and this one is a favourite for them also. If you love mac and cheese then I’m pretty confident you will enjoy this.

The Butterfly and The Pig

Image
It’s only taken me until Friday to post about my Sunday dinner, but I suppose if this makes you hungry for Yorkshire puddings then it’s only a 2 day wait! My boyfriend and I went to The Butterfly and The Pig on Sunday for (an unintentional) Sunday dinner. If you haven’t been before, the Butterfly and The Pig is a restaurant/bar located on Bath Street with a quirky, cosy feel - kinda like a pub you’d find in the middle of the countryside. For a starter I got the goats cheese and sweet potato salad, served on a bed of rocket with tomatos and covered in balsamic dressing.  I can’t really fault this starter, if I was to go back during lunch time I’d probably order the main sized version with with a side of some sort of bread.   For the main, we both ordered the Sunday roast. I would have usually chosen beef however, again, going out my way for “research” purposes I decided to order the pork belly so we could try both. The pork belly was really fa...

Only ever been to Nando's...

Image
I've always been a restaurant chain loyal and that will probably never change. Once I find a food I like, I can eat it every day until the thought of it makes me feel physically sick. And so it helps when such food is so widely available with multiple restaurant chain locations dotted around almost everywhere I go. While writing this Nando's just naturally springs to mind, my friends and I have made countless visits and every visit is made worth it when I get a free meal on my loyalty card. So I'm not about to slate Nando's, or any other restaurant chain. However, over the past few years it's become more apparent to me how vast the choices are for eating out in Glasgow. All I need to do is click onto the explore page on Instagram to find somewhere new I want to try. With the growth of food blogger presence, on Instagram especially, eating out more often than not is evermore tempting. It was obvious to me to write this blog on food and restaurants, trying out som...
